Sea Creatures Unit

We're taking 2 weeks to learn about ocean animals. This week we read A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle. We're planning a trip to the aquarium this weekend to go along with that. We also made this beaded safety pin project. Talk about exercising the fine motor skills!

Next week we'll read Night of the Moonjellies by Mark Sasha and we'll be taking a trip to the waterfront to explore the tide pools.

We're also putting together a lapbook to go along with our sea creatures unit. G really enjoys making lapbooks and he loves going through them later and remembering all the fun things we learned.

The Last Week of our Space Unit

We've set aside some time to talk, read, and play about space. This week, we're reading about each planet and making our own model of each one. When we've created them all, we'll hang them in G's room from the ceiling. I'll post a picture of our solar system when we finish all the planets.

Phases of the Moon

Since we've been talking about space lately, I thought it would be a good time to do the Oreo phases of the moon project.

Left to right: New Moon, Waxing Crescent, Half Moon (or first quarter), Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Half Moon (or third quarter), Waning Crescent, and back to New Moon.

G says, "This is the best picture in the whole entire world!"
