February 25-29 Beethoven
This week we are learning about Beethoven. G has been listening to a Beethoven CD at bedtime for a few weeks now, and is able to identify Beethoven music when he hears it. Yesterday, I played a bit of Fur Elise on his piano and he immediately said, "That's Beethoven!" We've also been reading books on the life of Beethoven and that has been interesting. I figured we'd take this week to learn to count to 10 in German (since Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany), and G surprised me when he could do it by Tuesday. :-) We've worked on handwriting by writing out "Ludwig Van Beethoven" each day, and G is learning where Germany is on his world map.
Homeschool Groups
So, I just signed up for 2 local homeschool meetup groups. I'm nervous about going and meeting new people, but I know it will be good for me and G. I have to do what is best for him, and meeting new friends who will be growing up homeschooling like him will be great for him. It'll be good for me to have local friends who homeschool too. What a concept!
Who's Getting a Haircut?
ME!!! I was growing my hair out because Paul likes it long, but the other day he said that I actually looked good with it short and that I should go get it cut! Yay! It's been driving me nuts! There's just too much of it! So Saturday I'll get it cut and colored! I'll feel like a whole new woman! :-)

5K?...Check!
I am pleased to announce that my dad and I ran 5K tonight and our running program is over! I am very proud of myself for accomplishing this. We actually ran the 12 laps around the track that we set out to do, and then ran a victory lap as well, so 3.25 miles altogether. On the way home, I couldn't help but wonder...could we have done another 3 laps and made it 4 miles? Ahhh, I don't really care enough to test out that question. :-) We are planning to run 1 mile this weekend for time, but after that, we have no further running plans. Mom, on the other hand, is planning to make jogging part of her regular schedule as it really helps with her blood sugar numbers.

Couch to 5K~Last Week
We've decided to shorten the couch to 5K program by one week. We feel ready to run the whole 3 miles, so we'll do that this week and be done instead of dragging it out another week. No, running has not become an obsession, and I have not found that euphoric "runner's high" that the pros talk about. The only "high" I get from running, is the great way I feel when I stop. :-) Oh well. It's good to know that I am capable of doing a 5K even if I don't love it.

Happy Birthday to Me!
Well, into a new decade I go! I turned 30 today. It sounds scary, but I feel better than I did at 18, so it's not that bad. :-) On Friday, my friends had a girls' game night to celebrate my birthday. It was so much fun and they made me feel special. I am so blessed to have such wonderful ladies in my life. They made me a cake, brought gifts and went around saying what each of them thought was special about me. Wow! What a great way to start off a birthday weekend! Then today, we went out to dinner with Mom and Dad, Tiffany and Erik. Olive garden! Loved it! Then it was back to their house for cake! Ahhh, and my birthday is complete! Thank you to everyone who showed me love on my special day.

Couch to 5K~Week5
Today's run was 2 miles straight, no walking. A pretty big jump from all previous workouts. I was nervous about it, but we did it! 8 whole laps without walking! I'm amazed with myself, even if nobody else is. This is the most I've run since I was a 2nd grader. I think the whole 3 miles might actually be possible.
